A year ago, I started tracking the mileage on my computer mouse with a handy software called Mousotron. It was very handy to use; just tell it your screen size and it cumulatively tracks how far your mouse pointer moves.
Now, exactly a year later, the total is out: my mouse pointer traveled 140 miles and then some:
To put that in perspective:
- It takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes to drive that distance on the highway
- 140 miles is about 41% the distance from L.A. to San Francisco, by a straight line
- It’ll take you 97% of the way to Portland, from Seattle (or the other way around)
- 2/3 the distance from New York to Washington DC
- 5.35 marathon runs
- 349 trips up and down the Eiffel tower
- 665 trips up and down the Space Needle
- 273 Burj Khalifas stacked end to end
- 1.4 times the length of the longest bridge in the world
According to Ask.com, the average computer mouse lasts about 422 miles. That means this mouse probably has a little over 2 more years to go.
Are you curious about your mouse mileage? You can download Mousotron, the same program that I used!
Note: The keystrokes and left button clicks are far from accurate, since this program doesn’t really do a good job of tracking those.
Thanks for using Mousotron. Glad you like it
