It’s that time of year again, when this blog celebrates its birthday! Today, The Thought Box is six years old and still going! I’m amazed at the growth that this blog has experienced over the past year. Though I was definitely busy for most of early 2015, I am still dedicated to writing new posts when I can.

This year, I introduced a new theme, fastr-child. As the name suggests, this theme is a child of the fastr theme, which in turn is based on of the excellent Underscores starter theme. This was the third WordPress theme that I’ve designed or heavily customized., after making a WordPress theme for the ASUW main site. The impetus for scrapping the old theme was to focus more on content. Whereas the old theme had sidebars linking to all different parts of the site, the new theme is much less distracting, moving these sidebar links to the footer on the bottom.

I also had the great privilege to attend my first WordCamp ever! Having been a WordPress user for over five years at the time, I felt that I should go and meet other WordPress users in person. I never expected to get so much out of the one-day event. The day after, I participated in the Contributor Day event, and now I can say I own a very small piece of the WordPress.org footer!

Some of the most popular posts published this year include:

After compiling that list above, I realized that I have developed a propensity for long blog titles. I might not be alone in this. Reflecting back, the titles of blog posts all around the web have gotten increasingly longer as time passes on. The question now becomes, what is driving this phenomenon?

Though this has not been the most active year in terms of blog post output, I’m glad to have had this blog for so long. Here’s to another great year of blogging!
