This may or may not be new to Windows 8, but I just found out about this recently.
In the bottom left-hand corner, where you would click to get to the Start screen in Windows 8, there are shortcuts to many different utilities.
To bring up these utilities, simply right-click instead of left-click in the bottom left-hand corner.
And bam. You’re one click away from Command Prompt, Task Manager, and other geeky goodies.
